New feedback system for the BC Docs: Transition phase

This is an approved copy of an announcement by Morgan Hill, Microsoft, posted in the Dynamics 365 Business Central Partner Community.

You may have noticed the message that now appears at the bottom of the documentation pages on the Learn site that we are phasing out GitHub issues and replacing it with a new feedback system:

Coming soon: Throughout 2024 we will be phasing out GitHub Issues as the feedback mechanism for content and replacing it with a new feedback system. For more information see: https://aka.ms/ContentUserFeedback.

What will happen?

Starting the week of April 22, we will begin the process of moving the Business Central documentation to a new feedback system.

As part of this work, we will close access to GitHub issues (on dynamics365smb-docs and dynamics365smb-devitpro-pb), and you will no longer be able to create a new issue or add a comment to an older issue you previously created. This means that temporarily you will not be able to give us feedback on docs – but this is only temporary. We aim to have the new feedback system enabled April 26th.

If you need to reach us about an issue in the meantime, you can contact us using this forum. If it isn’t urgent, we recommend that you wait for the new feedback system. You can read more about why we are making this change here: Provide feedback for Microsoft Learn content – Contributor guide | Microsoft Learn.

What will happen to the open GitHub issues?

We will retain all of your GitHub issues and continue to make updates based on your feedback. However, you will no longer be able to access these issues.

What does this mean?

It’s very important for us to continue to collaborate with you, and we still want your feedback. Using the new system, you will still be able to send us feedback and will address all of the feedback submitted via the new system.

Your ability to provide edits in GitHub and create pull requests will remain the same. To make edits and larger recommendations, the pencil/edit option at the top of the page will still be available for you to use and create pull requests in GitHub that we can incorporate into the docs. We recommend that you take a look at our guidance for contributors for more information about how to edit or collaborate on the Learn site: Contribute to the Help – Business Central | Microsoft Learn.

Please continue to share your ideas, thoughts, and issues in the new feedback tool. Your feedback will help us to review, update, and plan our documentation. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
